Spotlight on Culture Champions: Fort Worth and North Carolina

Posted by

Each month, we’ve been getting to know the Culture Champions at all of our locations – and get a closer look at what they’ve been up to, and why they’re involved.

In March, we met Eliza Garcia from LifeCare Hospitals of San Antonio, and Angel DeJesus and Patrick McNamara from Complex Care Hospital at Ridgelake. In April, we met Ann White from Tahoe Pacific Hospitals as well as the Complete Home Care Culture Champion team. In May, we met the Culture Champions from LifeCare Hospitals of Shreveport and Complex Care Hospital at Tenaya.

Now, we’re getting up close and cultural with our Culture Champions from LifeCare Hospitals of Fort Worth and LifeCare Hospitals of North Carolina.

LifeCare Hospitals of Fort Worth:

Connie Saldana (pictured center) is a Certified Pharmacy Technician at LifeCare Hospitals of Fort Worth. She has been with the company for one year and has been involved with the Culture Champion program for six months. She says she enjoys the camaraderie it brings.

“I enjoy being involved with other staff members around the building,” she explained. “I help create a positive culture with friendly communication, getting to know my co-workers and participating in special events.”

Connie joined the Culture Champion team, which also includes Karen Keeter, LaDawna Dooley and Samantha Mostad, because she believes creating a positive work environment is important.

“We need to uplift each other and support team work,” she said. “The company and all of the employees are a great team that have made great progress. Let’s keep going!”

LifeCare Hospitals of North Carolina:

Amy Bone, LPN, has been a Culture Champion from the very beginning of the program’s inception. She has 16 years of service at LifeCare and enjoys the opportunity to create events to help raise staff morale.

“Laughter helps everything,” she said. “It’s very important to focus on our culture because in order to be successful you have to have a positive environment. Everyone feeds off of others’ energy and if I can have a positive energy, then it will help everyone feel good.”

Amy is one of four Culture Champions, including Jennifer Parrish, Tom Andolsek and Konjeta Benjamin at LifeCare Hospitals of North Carolina.

She has helped organize a variety of events, including cook-offs, wacky tacky day, Christmas in July and relay races. The team also tries to implement something each month for the health observances.

Additionally, they have created a “Stars” box to help associates recognize each other during the same shift. Each morning and evening at the huddle meeting, the nominations are read.

“Associates really enjoy hearing that the nurse really appreciated the CNA washing the patient’s hair, taking them outside or just going the extra mile,” she explained.
