Organizational Leadership Changes

Today we announced several leadership changes at LifeCare.

Three leaders in our finance and hospital operations areas have stepped down, effective Aug. 31.

Chris Walker has served as LifeCare’s Chief Financial Officer for over 20 years. Chris served various roles in our finance area, including Treasurer, Chief Accounting Officer and Senior Vice President. Chris has done an amazing job helping ensure the continued viability of LifeCare and will be missed.

Jake Socha
has served as Senior Vice President of East Region Operations for the past four and a half years. Under his leadership, the East Region hospitals continually achieved exemplary financial, patient satisfaction and quality metrics. Throughout his LifeCare career, Jake successfully trained, coached and promoted executives into leadership roles.

Over the last 21 years, Stephanie Carpenter, Vice President of Finance and Planning, has demonstrated a great knowledge of our industry and has assisted leadership in understanding how LifeCare could successfully operate.

While we are sad to see Chris, Jake and Stephanie move on, we are pleased to welcome a new Chief Financial Officer and announce several internal promotions.

Michael Scott will assume the Chief Financial Officer position, starting Sept. 10.

With more than 25 years of experience, Mike previously served in various organizations assisting companies with acquisitions and securing capital – both of which are critical to our future.

Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from Baylor University and an MBA from Texas A&M.

Mike Cronin has been named Senior Vice President of Finance and Government Relations.  Mike joined LifeCare in 2007 as VP of Reimbursement. In 2016, he added responsibilities for Government Relations.  Mike will be responsible for overseeing Accounting, Accounts Payable, Revenue Cycle and Reimbursement, as well as continuing to function as our Government Relations officer.

Connie Lux has been named Vice President of Finance and Planning.  She joined LifeCare in 2007 as Controller with oversight of the Accounting and Accounts Payable departments.  In 2015, Connie was promoted to Chief Accounting Officer.

Maegan Bowman has been named Senior Vice President of Financial Operations and Strategic Planning. She will continue to be responsible for overseeing hospital financial operations, PMO services, supply chain, facilities management and capital expenditures.

With Jake’s departure, we have concluded that we would take this opportunity to challenge our existing operating leadership and encourage their development through modifying our operating structure. In that connection, we are pleased to announce that Amy Broderick has been named President of the Hospital Division.

Amy joined LifeCare in 2014 as Regional Vice President of Operations for the West Region.

With this change in operating structure, we have created an area CEO role. These individuals will assist with Amy’s span of control as well as mentoring our CEOs:

  • Brent Martin will now be responsible for LifeCare Hospitals of Shreveport and Complex Care at Ridgelake, working collaboratively with Ridgelake’s CEO Rob Mallicoat.
  • Matt Archer, who currently is serving as the Market CEO for Tahoe Pacific and Complex Care at Tenaya, will now include LifeCare Hospitals of Fort Worth, working collaboratively with Anis Sabeti.
  • Robyn Perkerson, who is currently CEO of LifeCare Hospitals of North Carolina, will now add LifeCare Hospitals of Wisconsin. Mary Ellen Roberts, Wisconsin’s CEO, will work with Robyn to maximize our opportunities in Wisconsin.
  • Joe Bryant, who is currently CEO of LifeCare Hospitals of Dayton, will also oversee LifeCare Hospitals of Chester County, working closely with Janet Biedron, Chester’s CEO.

The remaining market CEOs will report directly to Amy.

Amy will also now oversee the Business Development function.  With this change, Mary Lyn Baldauf has been named Senior Director of Business Development.

Additionally, Kristie Geist has been named President of the Home Health Division.

Kristie will continue to manage our home health division and focus on growth and expanding services. She joined LifeCare in 2013 as Regional Director of Finance Operations.  Earlier this year, she was promoted to Vice President of Home Health Services, and has been instrumental in building the division’s infrastructure.

Although recently joining LifeCare, Emily Gard will now assume the responsibilities of Chief Clinical Officer for the Hospital Division reporting directly to Amy.  Emily will oversee all clinical operations, including nursing, respiratory, lab, radiology, pharmacy, rehab and clinical education.  Jenny Taylor has been named Senior Director of Clinical Operations and will report directly to Emily.

Angie Sires and Robin Arslanpay, who currently serve as Regional Directors of Human Resources, have been named Senior Directors of Human Resources, reporting directly to Karen Javine, Vice President of Human Resources.

These are exciting times at LifeCare. Although we are sad to see some of our friends leave (they better stay in contact), we are excited about the new organization and team.
