Emily Gard, R.N., B.S.N., M.H.A., LNC, has been named LifeCare’s Vice President of Clinical Operations, effective Aug. 6.
In this role, Emily will provide oversight of clinical operations administration throughout LifeCare Hospitals. She will collaborate with hospital leadership in planning the delivery of clinical care.
Prior to LifeCare, Emily served as a Regional Director for Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, California, where she contributed to the success of the operational, quality and clinical continuum for 21 hospitals and continuum partners in Northern California. She also has clinical and operational experience with LTACHs, when she served as the Regional Senior Director of Clinical and Quality Operations and Chief Clinical Officer at Kindred. She has held various other leadership roles for health care organizations across the country.
A native of California, Emily served our country for 11 years in the United States Army and Air Force. She held several roles including Combat Hospital Commander, Chief Nursing Officer, Regional Senior Director of Clinical Operations, trauma flight nurse and legal nurse consultant. She flew 100 missions during Operation Enduring Freedom and assisted with establishing and maintaining Intensive Care Units in Baghdad, Iraq.
Emily holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing as well as a Master of Healthcare Administration from Kaplan University. She is a certified legal nurse consultant and has a yellow belt in the Lean Six Sigma program.
Outside of work, Emily enjoys playing tennis, running, hiking and cooking. She is looking forward to spending more time with her mom, stepdad and two sisters, who live in the Dallas area. Emily also enjoys volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, Wounded Warrior Program, the American Red Cross and Night to Shine. She is the proud owner of more than 400 pairs of shoes, and hopes to one day add an English Bulldog to her family.
