Recruiting the best clinical staff in our markets is key to ensure we’re creating a consistent, world-class experience for our patients at each facility– but this is no easy feat. Across the industry, there is always a need for nurses so it’s important to always keep the pipeline filled with worthy candidates, and one way to do this is to build rapport with local universities.
To get our name in front of local nursing students and educate them on everything we have to offer, members of the LifeCare Hospitals of Fort Worth team attended a career fair at Chamberlain University College of Nursing in Irving, Texas.
“Through the relationships we’ve developed with local universities, we are able to handpick the very best nurses to work at our hospitals” says Brett Sires, Hospital Educator in Fort Worth. In addition to highlighting what we offer as an employer, it’s also important to educate nurses on the different levels of care so they are more exposed to the overall healthcare system and can find an avenue where they would like to tailor their skills, he adds. “We want them to know LifeCare encourages fresh ideas and skills to create a place where patients and associates can grow simultaneously.”
Sires regularly attends career fairs in the DFW area to recruit nursing students to enroll in our new grad program. Recent graduates or soon-to-be graduates are selected to participate in the 12-week program and paired with an approved preceptor on the floor. “This program is designed to help shape and develop those who show potential of becoming the best in their field – a requirement of our nurses at LifeCare,” says Sires.
