LifeCare recognizes Health Information Professionals Week

Posted by

Every year, the health care industry dedicates a week in March/April to recognize our health information professionals (HIP). This year’s HIP Week took place March 18-24 .

Like all health care organizations, LifeCare relies heavily on its health information management (HIM) team. These individuals are responsible for acquiring, analyzing and protecting patient information, ensuring a consistent workflow and the confidentiality of all records. Roles in this field include coding, auditing, clinical documentation improvement, privacy & security officers, compliance and more.

“The role of HIM is crucial to every hospital organization,” says Jodi Stare, HIM Manager in Mechanicsburg. “I think it’s great that LifeCare and the health care industry recognize and thank HIM professionals for all their hard work.”

As HIM manager, Stare’s day-to-day responsibilities are vast, including analyze, abstract, scan and audit discharged charts; HIPAA privacy and security, perform risk assessments and more.
