Congratulations to Director of Respiratory Therapy David Blauch for receiving the 2018 Gene Friedman Respiratory Care Practitioner Award. The award was presented to Blauch on March 1 at the 38th annual Conference at the Slopes, hosted by the Pennsylvania Society for Respiratory Care.
The Gene Friedman award recognizes a respiratory care provider in the Pittsburgh market who exhibits clinical excellence in patient care. Blauch was nominated for his compassion, knowledge, dedication and commitment to his profession and staff.
Dave is the ideal boss. He treats every staff member as if they are part of his family and puts their individual needs above his own. Since 2005, Dave has come to work on nearly every Christmas Day to take a patient assignment just so one more staff member can spend the holiday with their loved ones. He is selfless.
“While it is truly an honor to be recognized by my peers, I actually view this award as a reflection of our department and the work we do here at LifeCare,” says Blauch. “The fact that we as a smaller hospital are recognized in the midst of mega-health systems is pretty cool to me.”
Blauch started his career with LifeCare in 1998. “I truly love what we do in the LTACH environment and the time we get to spend with our patients and their families.” Additionally, it’s his team that keeps him coming back each day. “I am blessed with the best staff – they are the most caring and supportive people I’ve ever known.”
