Ridgelake gives back this holiday season

Every year around the holidays you are guaranteed to hear the joyous sound of a bell ringing outside your favorite mall or a toy donation box inside your local Walgreens or CVS. The Salvation Army sends thousands of volunteers out each year to raise money for the less fortunate to provide food, shelter and gifts during the holiday season.

For the third year in a row, associates at our Complex Care Hospital in Ridgelake have partnered with The Salvation Army to donate their time and gifts through Adopt an Angel to those in need in Sarasota, Florida.

“At Ridgelake, it’s all about giving back to the community. We adopted 40 angels – 10 more than last year – and donated 120 gifts for children and elderly angels in need,” says Rob Mallicoat, Ridgelake CEO. In addition, the team decided to go above and beyond to volunteer their time by ringing the bell and delivering the gifts to angel families.

“This is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding times to be a volunteer. The smiles, the hugs, the joy and happiness you see and feel in the air when those precious angel families receive their gifts,” says Mallicoat.

Helping to coordinate these efforts is Human Resources Manager Kim Link and Director of Business Development Ellen Roberts.  “The Salvation Army has so many great volunteer programs that we love being a part of; and the Adopt an Angel program is my favorite,” says Link. “I love knowing we are helping families keep the spirit of Christmas alive and putting smiles on those kids’ faces Christmas morning.”
